UK set for coldest winter in 8 years
Forecasters in the UK have stated that they expect to see temperatures drop by approximately 0.3°C below the average this winter. The Weather Company have stated that their data suggests the drop in temperature could see our coldest winter since the early 2010's. This is caused by the jet stream currents (high altitude movements of air at high speed) from the north-west.
The Met Office is also predicting a colder winter, their long term forecast stating 'The chances of cold spells are higher than has been the case in recent years. Long-range computer models show increased chances of northwesterly winds.’
